DVR-K16

My HP Pavilion 5133eu laptop comes with a Pioneer DVR-K16 writer. It's firmware version is 1.15, and I have seen in the Pioneer web that latest one is 1.42. But when I try to flash the new version, the software doesn't recognize my writer. It looks like a I've got to flash the HP firmware, but they haven't published anything. In Dangerous Brothers I saw that there was a 1.42, and even a 1.44 update for the Pioneer DVR-K16. Should I install this version in my writer without problems?
