This tutorial will help you do a full backup on any of your DVD Movies, even the recent ones. You should first try the General Movie Backup Method first. If that is giving you errors, then proceed onto this tutorial.

Ripit4me and FixVTS Updated 5/10/2007: These two programs is no longer available as a result of copyright infringement. You can still find and download the program online if you do your research Google RipIt4me! & Google FixVTS!
4 FREE Programs Needed (Make sure you have the latest versions):
  • RipIt4Me - (Find on Google: RipIt4Me Download). RipIt4Me has download links for the other 3 Free Programs that you need.

  • DVD Shrink - (download here: DVD Shrink Download). Beware of fakes; people asking you to pay for this program. DVD Shrink is Free and it will always be Free.
  • DVD Decrypter - (download here: DVD Decrypter Download)
  • FixVTS - (download here: FixVTS)
Hardware that you need
  • DVD Burner
  • DVD-R or DVD+R Media
Obvious Step - Put your Original DVD movie into your DVD Burner
Step 1. Open up the program "RipIt4Me"
Step 1a. If you already have an older RipIt4me or FixTVS, then RipIt4me will prompt the following message and direct you to download their latest version automatically (I love this feature!)

Step 2. If you do not have the other programs download it under "Downloads"
Step 3. Now make sure the programs paths are correct on the "Logs/Settings" > "Preferences" menu:

Step 4. Now click on the "Wizard" mode:

Step 5. Select your drive letter where the DVD movie is in your DVD Burner, now let RipIt4me load your movie. Select "Full DVD" as the "Ripping Settings". Click "Next"

Step 6. Now "Create PSL", which creates the PSL (Protected Sectors List) file for the movie in DVD Decrypter (which will open automatically). You don't really have to know what PSL files mean, but if you are curious - Read it here

Step 7. Click on "Rip DVD" which imports the PSL created in Step 6 using DVD Decrypter

Click "Ok"

Step 8. Now click on the ripping icon to rip the DVD using DVD Decrypter

Step 9. Now click on "Do it!" to clean the IFO Files. This is to remove protected cells, useless tiny cells, and fake tilesets.

Step 10. Open up the ripped files using DVD Shrink - "Open With DVD Shrink" then burn the ISO that DVD Shrink creates and burn with DVD Decrypter.
